What did you see?
As a shopper myself, i was irritated by so many trolley thats being placed around without anyone attending to it, blocking the path. When i visit the NTUC,i only go to sections where i can get the ingredients quick and get moving out of the crowded and uncomfortable place. Would rather take a longer path with lesser obstructions compared the to the shorter ones and having to say excuse me to every single shoppers. When queueing for the payment, it was the most headache as many other shoppers each rented a trolley to place their items in it..hence, its too big and blucky that it slows down the movement of other shoppers whenever they walk past the cashier as the space was extremely small. I also see that its very time consuming for the shoppers to remove the items one by one from the trolley and place it on the counter whereby the casher can scan the items. (everything is too slow and disruptive to everyone.)
What did you learn?
I learn that shoppers tend to be irresponsible with their stuffs by putting the trolley along the path, blocking others (especially when its an abandon trolley) The movement of the shoppers were too slow and inconsiderate to others as majority of them rent a trolley to contain their items.even if its just a few that could be carry around easily.
What did it mean – your insights?
From my own understanding and observation, i notice that majority of the shoppers only visit the supermarket with an intention of preparing something, or just to satisfy their needs/wants.They would never shop in a crowded place whereby even walking could be a problem. Its even more annoying when they have to wait for the horrible queue thats so time consuming it could take probably 10-15 mins just to pay for a bottle of drink. (very problematic) Some inconsiderate shoppers rented a trolley just to contain afew items that could be carry around with hands or basket, yet, they choose to slow the movement and causing a jam here and therer.
